LAST WEEK:Pediatric Mental Health Endowment Update
Shrin and Debby shared where we are after beginning this journey one year ago this month. Once fully funded, the Rotary Endowed Fellowship for Pediatric Mental Health will have a long-term, high impact effect on Colorado’s pediatric behavior health services by decreasing provider shortages through recruitment and training of pediatric psychiatry Fellows at Children’s Hospital. These specialist additions to the pediatric mental health workforce pipeline at Children’s Hospital will increase availability for treatment and will escalate broad systemic improvements to Colorado’s pediatric behavior health services. Club members from Sunrise and Noon have contributed $204,000 to this legacy project in addition to the $50,000 from our Foundation. To fulfill our need for an additional $185,000 20 Clubs at PETS signed up as well as grants from three District Clubs. To date, we have secured $315,00! The endowment must be fully funded to start, and WE WILL get there! Incoming RI President, Gordon McInally, has designated mental health as his focus as was emphasized in his video shared during their presentation.
We again welcomed Dave Amen, eClub One, Scott Smith who submitted his application, and Deborah Givray our newest member and former Rotarian from Texas. We also welcomed members from Sunrise, Bill Medlicott, Lee Mulberry, Joel Johnson, and Paul Campbell. On Zoom: Arthur, Tamie, and Patricia Mourillon, eClub One President from Georgia.
Dave reminded us of the focus on mental health at this year's District Conference. Raffle tickets are on sale, eClubone.org, for $20. Winner receives one round trip ticket to this year's RI Conference.
25% of Sunrise who joined us asked for volunteers for the Recycle Event May 6th and to distribute a free shopping bag with the Rotary logo complete with an event brochure. Additional bags could be purchased for a contribution. The bags will be distributed to each vehicle dropping off items at the recycle event.
Scott introduced our current Student, Logan Benson from Highlands Ranch H.S. He was accompanied by his parents, Dean and a teacher. Logan will be the future voice on ESPN. Well done!
Phil announced Claudia will assume his role of Club Secretary Jul 1st.
Shrin announced Chip Hartney has accepted the nomination to complete Claudia's 1-year term on the Board of Directors when she assumes the role of Club Secretary. He opened the floor for additional nominations, none given. Nominations open for the next two meetings.
Thanks to Bob Larson, Elizabeth, and Bob Martin we had another successful auction. This time a Botswana mask with alcoholic surprises.
This week Bob will auction a ring from Nancy's father.
