Help & Hope Center (Douglas/Elbert Task Force)
The Help & Hope Center is a human service organization whose mission is to meet the immediate needs of residents of Douglas and Elbert counties who are in financial distress and at risk of becoming homeless. Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch have donated time, labor and financial assistance for Help & Hope Center handyman repairs and building maintenance. Additionally, our members have coordinated food, toiletry and clothing drives and contribute annually in support of the mission of the Help & Hope Center.
Ronald McDonald Houses in Denver & Aurora
Quarterly, volunteers plan, and purchase grocery items needed to prepare and serve a home cooked meal for families staying at the RMH. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver has offered a loving home away from home to families needing to be near their seriously ill or injured children while they’re being treated at metropolitan area hospitals.
Project C.U.R.E.
The Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch volunteers have assisted Project C.U.R.E. by sorting warehoused medical equipment and supplies and preparing them for shipment to healthcare settings and hospitals around the world. Project C.U.R.E.
(Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Project C.U.R.E.’s mission is to strengthen health systems in under-resourced countries and the RCHR is committed to its continued partnership with Project C.U.R.E.
Sedalia Elementary School
RCHR has adopted Sedalia Elementary School which has a high percentage of low-income students and students who receive free and/or reduced lunches. Our volunteer activities include financially supporting the Parent Teachers Organization (PTO) in their annual fund-raising event “Rock the Barn” and hosting a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in the spring. Our club provides weekly Rotary Readers volunteers to help struggling 1st and 2nd graders improve their reading skills. RCHR annually purchases Colorado Children’s Award books for the library.
