LAST WEEK: Phil Calderbank, Rotary Global Teacher Training
Patricia introduced Phil who described RTT, Rotary Teacher Training, meeting RI's theme of literacy and education. Education is the best way to tackle poverty. Our Club has partnered with TU, Teach United, (www.teachunited.org), a non-profit dedicated to reducing inequality through education. Teacher quality is the single biggest school-related factor in student success. The TU model offers to train Rotary coaches allowing us to use our global Rotary network to deliver the model. This is an exciting opportunity for our Club and will provide the opportunity for everyone to participate in the program.
Via Zoom, we again welcomed Trina Johnson and Phil Horning, a friend of Eric's (his 3rd visit). We also welcomed Joel Johnson and Paul Campbell from Sunrise. And, good to see Peter Ulrich, Aaron Seiler, Jon Heggie, and Connie Dix on-line.
Congratulations to our upcoming officers: Board Directors - 2 years, Kari Brown and Claudia Caves and 1 year, Kevin Mizer. And Arthur Cone our PEN In Training. Jerry, our Nominating Committee Chair, thanked Phil Calderbank and Shrin for their assistance counting the email ballots. 61 of 81 noon members voted; email ballots are a better way to get input from the entire group. (Previously, votes were taken during a live meeting and must be present to vote.)
Congratulations to Terre Cone as she progressed to blue badge status. We all thoroughly enjoyed her Classification talk. She has lived the life of a Rotarian her entire life with her passion for life, caring for others, serving others, and giving back.
Our Sunrise group assisted with the South Metro Fire Department life jacket loan program for children on the water at Chatfield State Park.
