Rotaraction News from Samantha Yannucci
Through the name Goodhood Collective, Rotaraction member Sam Yannucci is coordinating a refugee integration project in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her efforts are focused on the Eritrean refugee community, and her approach is unique. Rather than forcing locals and refugees to cohabit a single space, Sam is proposing the creation of a 'cultural community'. Space will be created in the city to give the Eritrean community the opportunity to share the best of their culture, and established residents the opportunity to learn about their new Eritrean neighbors through full cultural immersion, inclusive of food, music, commerce, language, workshops, and celebrations. Sam is confident in the project's ability to facilitate intercultural relationships and thus, integration, in a way that is more natural and comfortable for both groups. You could follow her project at goodhood.org and we will provide periodic updates on the Wheel Spinner.

Jim & Sue Bramley attended the Douglas County School District's Green University last week. The district has a big initiative towards the environmental sciences. Our club has been involved in the outdoor classroom, the hugelkultur garden and donated landscaping trees at Highlands Ranch High School. The club has worked with teacher Heather Berry, district sustainability learning specialist, who put the event together. Jim has worked closely with Heather on these projects and addressed the group about the importance of community outreach and the schools. Our club was mentioned numerous times and our logo appeared on the big screen while Jim addressed the group.
