Host Families Still Needed - Up With People Jan. 4 - Feb. 18 from Misa Grenier
The casts start off in Denver and a new group of young, fun, international students will be arriving Jan. 15. - - and they still need some host families!! We have hosted before so I can share some of what it entails:
· Providing a bed, some meals and some transportation
o The cast is usually together M-F from about 8:30-5:00 (similar to a work day). So they will eat breakfast and dinner with you most days. Lunch is usually provided during their day with the cast. They do have some Saturdays when they are also working together but have a couple of free weekends
· There is a shuttle that picks up and drops off the HR students at Target parking lot each day, 1950 E County Line Road 80126. So they will need a ride to the shuttle stop
· It’s a great opportunity to bring the world into your home. The “students” are anywhere between 18-26 years old and come from all over the world (i.e. other US states, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Japan, Italy, Africa, etc.). Some of them are new English speakers but many are fairly fluent. It can be fun figuring out communication J
· On weekends, you can go exploring Colorado with the students or they may be exhausted and happy to rest at home
· Denver is the starting point for their tour, where they meet their cast mates, learn about “road” life, learn the musical show, etc. It can be exciting to help them through their process.
The group arrives on Jan. 15 so they are looking for families who can host 1, 2 or more students from Jan. 15 - February 18 but, if that’s too long for you, they can split the time up and use two host families for the 4-5 week period.

The GALA is getting a MAKEOVER! - Sue Bramley
Mark your calendars for the 2019 gala which will be held on September 14. It's going to be completely different - new location, new format, new food, new dress code. This is gonna blow your socks off!
We've booked Two Penguins event center. You can check out their website, https://twopenguinsdenver.com. Their space is large enough for our group and "Colorado casual" will be the evening's attire. The committee has a new auctioneer 'on hold' and, get this, an Eagles tribute band, Longrun, will be the entertainment. This is going to be fun!
The fundraising focus will be acquisition of many more sponsors. So keep that in mind as you go about your business. We'll all be soliciting sponsors so get your list together now! More info to follow.
