LAST WEEK - Bob Pasicznyuk, Executive Library Director

Bob reunited with Douglas County Libraries in 2014 after a five-year hiatus leading the Cedar Rapids Public Library in a time of rapid change and rebuilding. Previously, Bob managed projects and technology efforts in libraries at Douglas County, Pikes Peak Library District, and the University of Colorado. Upon his return Bob states, "Our patrons have high expectations of their library district, and we aim to meet those expectations by providing exceptional library experiences through our signature events, beautiful facilities, contemporary technology, and expansive collections." The Highlands Ranch Library is 19 years old; to meet his expectations Bob is not only planning the required maintenance but marked changes to both the child and adult sections. It is a "market driven library system" and that will include book shelves at 5 foot eye level. Changes to the children's section include: kid's classroom, discovery zone, tech-it-out (computer checkout), and learning commons (section for tutoring and homework). The staircase to the upstairs adult section will be modified and the area will include an event hall, den area, as well as another tech-it-out. A pergola will be added to the terrace in addition to updating the current mobile book drop. As a frequent visitor to the library this reader is anxious to see the changes. Toronto Rotary International Convention June 23 - 27

Marion and Connie shared a few stories of their exciting trip and experience attending the Convention with over 25,000 Rotarians from around the world. Randy Pole joined our meeting and verbally awarded Marion and Connie the "District 5300 Superstar Award". Randy's District has spearheaded the Tournament of Roses Float for 40 years and thanked us for our continued support.

Military Committee

Mike Foss shared an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help the 244th Engineer Battalion (largest Army Reserve with around 1000 soldiers) in two hour increments serving food on July 14th and 15th at Martinez Reserve Center, Peoria and 56th Ave. Sign up sheet available.
