Inspiration - Mike Foss
Last Week - Dark turned light. Ari lined up a speaker panel of non-profits: Ronald McDonald House - Jonna Busack; Hide in Plain Site - Joe Roos, Warrior Bonfire - Mike Foss; Backpack Society - June Everett; and, Help and Hope - Dan Marlow, giving us a better understanding of what each organization is going through at this time. Thank you Ari, it was a moving description of the challenges each are facing and for raising our awareness. "We serve you to serve the community".
Bright Futures Sponsorship Committee
For those who have yet to pledge please look at what you spent last year on live and silent auctions, wine pulls, etc. and consider adding that amount to your pledge.
The first 5450 Polio Virtual Fireside Chat Apr 28th was a huge success; click the link to watch and listen to recording:
Rotary Masks - the Club will order 250 masks with the Rotary logo; they will be sold for $5 each. Thank you to Christine Holt and Reen for identifying this opportunity. Reen has agreed to distribute masks to the community, thank you.
Scott Davenport needs 8 volunteers to read and rank scholarship applications. At this time he has received only 5 applications. Emails were sent to all of the students requesting the applications. Please respond to Scott if you are able to help, scott.davenport@ibtx.com
HRRPeach & Pear - Tom and Jan Keyton
Unfortunately with the severe freeze the Western Slope had almost 2 weeks ago, there is not going to be a Peach & Pear Sale this year. We hope you will join us again next year when we will do this again. We will celebrate our 20th sale next year.
Resuming Rotary biweekly Wednesday golf at South Suburban Golf Course on May 13 - Connie Golas
Marty Genereux did an excellent job for the past two years. He's ready to pass the torch for the responsibility of coordinating tee times. Therefore, in the future, please contact only me, Connie Golas, regarding golf scheduling.
I request that you reply to me that you want to be included on the Golf List. I will send an email to all who are on the Golf List to be notified of pending golf dates and tee times. I will email you the week before we are scheduled to golf. You must sign up via email to me not later than the Monday prior to our Wednesday golfing. For this first week I will reserve 3 foursomes. I must know the total number of participants by the prior Monday at noon. As in the past, spouses and friends are welcome to join the group.
Thanks to Covid-19, there are a few modifications. Social distancing is required inside the pro-shop. Masks are required in the pro-shop but are only encouraged, not required, on the course. The Pro-shop will be opening May 8, allowing only a total of 6 persons inside at any time. The grill and driving range are not yet open. All payments must be by credit card only.
Carts are now available for one person use only. Exception is allowed for members of the same household. You must reserve a cart at least 30 minutes ahead of time and carts are available as first come, first served. Carts will be cleaned and disinfected before use sanitized again when they are returned.
