Last Week - IFCS Update, Todd McPherson

Todd ended his talk with "together all things are possible". To me, seems a good place to start. So many pieces came together allowing IFCS to respond rapidly and with adaptability to become the emergency food provider in a 50 mile radius (65% from Denver) serving 3200 hungry people a month. They, including their team of 8 volunteers, reinvented themselves rising to the need with support from our Rotary Club and others. An online backpack program has been set up, no longer customized, but reaching several hundred kids and including food orders and snacks. COVID-19 has prevented them from their usual fundraisers and they are continually looking for new opportunities including reaching out to other Rotary Clubs in their new radius. Together all things are possible.

Randy Pote joined the meeting to give a brief update on the Rotary float for the Tournament of Roses. To support the float, a $25 donation will place your personal postcard message on the float and then be sent by you following the parade. For more information, rotaryfloat.org

Volunteering opportunities, contact Elizabeth if interested: 3-4 volunteers needed to paint Help & Hope, a 3-4 hour project; Habitat for Humanity ReStore reopened for volunteers; and, continue decorating paper bags for Project Angel Heart.

Rotary masks available to Club members until Thursday, Jul 2, at which time the remaining masks will be donated.

A working group of 21 Clubs has been developing a big new District-wide fundraiser. All Rotarians and Clubs are invited, and every dollar you raise goes to your Club’s service projects. The Woohoomanity Challenge is for riders and volunteers… in other words, everyone! Ride… do the Denver Century Ride, with routes as easy as 10 miles.
