GREAT PRESENTATION BY STUDENT OF THE WEEK
THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM:
WE'RE BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!
This week there is a lot going on at the club meeting, so be prepared for a busy, interesting day! We'll hear the final numbers on the gala and be awed at how we did - the more money made, the more we can help.
We'll get the skinny from the team on the trip to Costa Rica - what they did, who they met, how they partied! But mostly we'll hear about how much pleasure and satisfaction the team took from the people they met. They're already talking about a return date! We'll hear about our next proposed trip to Nicaragua as El Porvenir talks about how we can help with the sanitation work they're doing.
Add to that a student and we've got a full plate!
GREETER SCHEDULE:
November 16: Jan Selinfreund & Fred Erb
November 30: Jane Kucharski & Jerry Wilford
OTHER NEWS THAT'S FIT TO PRINT
THIS GIVES A WHOLE NEW MEANING TO 'CAR COATS'!
This is Mickie Cameron's trunk...full of coats for the Indian Center. Thanks to everyone who donated - our offering was a HUGE help to the Center! In addition to the coats Mickie got together, Natasha Nola ran a drive in her neighborhood which really upped our ante! Congrats all!

AND THESE ACTIVITIES MEAN WHAT?
KOHL'S SANTA CLOTHES
Each year, Rotary partners with Kohl's Park Meadows store of Quebec. Students are bussed in from different organizations, CASA, Boys Hope, Girls Hope & Hide in Plain Sight to name a few. Each child is given $100 to spend on clothes for themselves. A Rotarian accompanies them to find the right sizes and styles and keep on budget. The joy in their eyes when they hear they've hit the preverbal jackpot is so exciting! Sign up with Connie Golas to participate in this great tradition!
STATE OF THE STATE LUNCHEON
The 11th annual State of the State Luncheon is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Southeast Denver and District 5450. It will be held December 7th at the Denver Marriott Tech Center (noon to 1:30 pm). The club has stepped it up in a big way - not only are we dark that day so people can attend without a conflict, but they're also applying our 'lunch money' to our ticket price. So $30 of the $60 luncheon ticket is being underwritten by the club, costing members only $30 for this great program.
In addition to keynote speaker Susan Klebold, Governor John Hickenlooper will address the State’s efforts in the areas of mental health and wellness. The luncheon will be preceded by a Mental Health Symposium presented by the Rotary Mental Health Initiative (9 am-11:20 am; Free/Registration Required) and a Mental Health & Wellness Expo (11:00-11:55 am; no charge to attend). Visit the district website for more info,
Our work with the Indian Center is really ramping up. Following our successful coat drive, families will have a warm winter! Next up - preparing for their annual children's holiday party. Our involvement? Go down to wrap the kids' presents. We have 2 days now, Friday evening, Dec. 15 and early Saturday morning, Dec. 16. The party is in the afternoon. For more info, contact Mickie Cameron or Andy Becher.
IFCS HOLIDAY BASKETS TO SENIORS
IFCS sponsors holiday baskets and builds them for local low income seniors. They're filled with gifts and food - the stuff of a happy holiday! Our role? Delivery of said baskets. You'll go over to IFCS, 3370 S Irving St, Englewood, CO 80110, in the morning of Dec. 16, collect baskets and addresses, then go forth and deliver! It's a wonderful experience, getting to meet seniors around town and making their holidays a little merrier! Contact Carolyn Bradish or Connie Golas.
OUR PAYBACK FOR ALL THIS WORK? THE CLUB HOLIDAY PARTY!
This will be our second year at the beautiful Sundial House at BackCountry Highlands Ranch, 10989 Sundial Rim Rd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. Potluck, cash bar, great food, great friends! Don't miss this fun event! Steve Miller will have a food sign up sheet at the upcoming meetings.
Here you see Santa in his 21st century sled, parked at the Sundial House, along with Gary Dani, our sponsor Chuck Giebel, and our hosts, Janet & Steve Miller, social chairman!
NOVEMBER: ROTARY INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION MONTH
By Mary Kay Hasz
You may already be aware of this month's designation from reading the November issue of "The Rotarian" and our Rotary District 5450 monthly newsletter. The RI Foundation is global and was recently recognized as the World's Outstanding Foundation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
As R.I. President Ian Riseley stated in his November letter to members, "The Foundation that enabled Rotary to take on polio is, in many ways, the foundation upon which our Rotary service is built. For 100 years, since it came into existence...the Foundation has supported and strengthened our service...and allowed us to be the organization that we are."
The generous contributions of Rotarians provide the bulk of the funds that our Foundation manages every year. Last year, our 3,000 District 5450 Rotarians contributed more than $674,000 to various Rotary International Foundation funds.
Rotary will accept donations of all flavors; cash, checks, credit cards, wire transfers, stocks, bonds and mutual funds! Any amount is welcomed and can be added onto your quarterly dues billing or preferably can be sent directly to RI. As the year comes to a close please see Jerry Wilford for details on how you can contribute. The RI Foundation is not to be confused with our own Highlands Ranch Rotary Foundation. Both have 501c3 designations for tax purposes.
As a further incentive Earl and Mary Kay Hasz will match any amount of $200 or more contributed to the Foundation up to a total of 5000 points for our own HR Rotarians. First time contributors will be given preference. Once again see Jerry Wilford for details.
