ANOTHER STEP COMPLETED AT THE HRHS OUTDOOR CLASSROOM! By Sue Bramley
As you recall, 2 years ago our club, in conjunction with the HR Garden Club, worked with HRHS environmental science teacher, Heather Berry. Jim Bramley and Heather worked with AP Environmental science students to conceive, design and build an outdoor classroom to get kids into an outside learning environment. The last step was completed this spring, was a hugelkultur installation. It's basically a raised garden bed built atop rotting wood to become self sustainable. So Jim & the students set posts to create an observation panel where they'd get a 'worms eye view' into the inner workings of the garden.
A Rotary plaque will be placed above the observation panel to acknowledge HRRC's participation.
