Last Week - Jillian Winter, RN, Sarah's Home
Jillian provided us with facts that, in my opinion, were astounding: 300,000+ children are exploited in the U.S. every year, 85% of rescued children were born in the U.S., 11 or 12 is the average age when they are trafficked, 300 is the aproximate number of beds available in the U.S. when they are rescued, and 13,000 are the number of beds needed daily for survivors in the U.S.
Sex trafficking is the fastest-growing business of organized crime and the third-largest criminal enterprise in the world.
Sarah's Home is a faith-based residential home, 17 month program on the front range of Colorado for girls age 12 up to 18 who have been rescued from sex trafficking. Sarah’s Home, one of three in Colorado, is licensed as a specialized group home offering healing, education, restoration, and reintegration for survivors of the forced commercial sex trade fully funded by giving, no government funding. The program consists of counseling and therapy, life skill training, medical care, job skill training, spiritual guidance, relationship training, mentoring and education. Their accredited school, Aspire Academy, is on the property allowing girls to complete credits they may have missed. Sarah's Home is truly a “home” where survivors can take the time that they need to heal. 40% are boys and they are considering opening one for boys. For more information, www.sarahshome.us.

Highlands Ranch Rotary is having their 20th Annual Peach Only Sale This Year. Even though Palisade had a LATE very hard freeze which destroyed almost all their crop, we have been able to obtain Freestone Peaches from GEORGIA for our sale this year. Unfortunately, we will NOT be selling Pears this year. Since Georgia's growing season starts earlier than Colorado, the sale and delivery times are EARLIER. The peaches will be picked the day before shipment ( 2 days to drive to Colorado).
Orders must be in by July 15.
Delivery/Pickup will be First Weekend in August; Noon to 6 PM with more details to follow. Pickup location is same as previous years at Highlands Ranch Eastridge Rec Center, 9568 S University Blvd – North Parking Lot.
Please join the Highlands Ranch Rotary Sunrise Club for our regular meetings. Currently meeting virtually on Thursdays with the noon group.
The meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7:15 to 8:30 am at the south campus of Children's Hospital at 1811 Plaza Dr. Highlands Ranch. We offer a delicious continental breakfast ($10.00 for members and guests). We also have wonderful speakers you will enjoy. This is a great opportunity for a make up meeting or for potential members that cannot attend noon meetings. If you plan to attend, please notify Elena Cumberbatch at 303-875-3418 or Ken Carlson at 303-503-4191 a day in advance. We look forward to seeing you!
